The excitement was palpable at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben where Luca Engstler, driving the eye-catching MOUNTAIN WOLF and LIQUI MOLY-liveried Lamborghini, clinched his first DTM victory. This win not only represents a personal milestone for Engstler but also a significant achievement for the Grasser Racing Team (GRT) supported by Lamborghini Squadra Corse. Amidst a crowd of 42,000 motorsport enthusiasts, the stage was set for a season of intense racing and spirited competition.
Unpacking the Victory
Engstler’s journey to the top spot was nothing short of dramatic. The young German driver, alongside his teammate Christian Engelhart, showcased remarkable skill and determination throughout the weekend. Starting from a promising position in the first qualifying session, Engstler battled through the midfield to secure valuable points in Saturday’s race despite numerous challenges.
The Winning Formula
Sunday’s race was where Engstler truly shone. Starting fourth on the grid, he maneuvered the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 with precision and tenacity. Holding off the competition, he crossed the finish line first, much to the delight of his team and fans. His performance not only demonstrates his racing prowess but also highlights the synergy between driver and machine—a key factor in motorsports.
Engstler’s success is a testament to the meticulous preparation and strategy employed by GRT. The support from Lamborghini Squadra Corse and the technical crew played a crucial role in adapting the car to the challenging 3.667-kilometer track, proving their resilience and competitive spirit.
“I’m at a loss for words. It’s an indescribable feeling, unlike anything I’ve ever felt in my life. I’m proud of this success and incredibly grateful to all the people who have supported me on my journey. My family, friends, and partners who made this possible, and of course Gottfried, his wife, and the entire team who provided me with such a fantastic car here. Of course, we had some luck with how the race unfolded. I just tried to focus on myself at the front and not make any mistakes. I’m very happy about the win, and I’ll gladly take that, but the season is still long, and we have a lot of work ahead of us in the upcoming races. The Lamborghini is still a new car for me, and I want to continue improving.”
