Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium – In what will go down as a legendary moment in GT3 history, the GRT – Grasser Racing Team, in partnership with Mountain Wolf, has claimed a sensational overall victory at the 77th edition of the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa. With factory drivers Mirko Bortolotti, Jordan Pepper, and Luca Engstler behind the wheel of the #63 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2, the team delivered a flawless performance in front of 128,000 spectators, writing Lamborghini’s name into the Spa winner’s list for the first time ever.
FROM MIDFIELD TO MOMENTUM - QUALIFYING SESSIONS
The journey to victory began with a steady start in Thursday’s Pre-Qualifying, where the #63 car placed P25 with a best lap of 2:18.682. But as focus and pace sharpened, Friday’s combined Qualifying saw the trio surge to P13 overall, with impressive laps across the board – including a 2:17.178 that hinted at the car’s potential.
In Superpole, Jordan Pepper took on the pressure of the flying lap, clocking a strong 2:16.250 which placed the Lamborghini P12. However, due to a grid penalty, the car started from P19 on race day, setting the stage for a comeback of epic proportions.
THE TEMPLE OF ENDURANCE - 24 HOURS OF RELENTLESS EXECUTIO
From the green flag to the checkered, the #63 was a constant threat. With smart strategy, flawless pit work, and aggressive but calculated driving, GRT steadily climbed through the field. By sunrise, the Huracán GT3 EVO2 was leading the charge at Spa.
As the race wore on and strategy battles intensified – especially against the Rutronik Porsche – it was Mirko Bortolotti’s decisive overtake at the Bus Stop with under two hours to go that turned momentum into control.
Even a minor delay in the final stop couldn’t shake the determination.
But it almost slipped away. During the final pit stop, with just 38 minutes to go, the #63 Lamborghini refused to fire up – standing still for three to four agonizing seconds. In that moment, time itself seemed to freeze. Everyone in the pit lane, from the GRT crew to Mountain Wolf guests, held their breath. The silence felt like an eternity.
When the engine finally roared back to life, it was a race against the clock: the car had to exit the pit lane ahead of the chasing Rutronik Porsche. Every tenth of a second mattered. It was a high-stakes moment that demanded flawless execution and somehow, the team delivered.
The final stint demanded everything. With the Porsche hunting just eight tenths behind, Bortolotti managed traffic like a master, opened the gap, and brought the #63 Lamborghini across the line with 549 laps completed FIRST OVERALL.
A WIN FOR THE HISTORY BOOKS
This victory marks a milestone not only for Lamborghini and GRT, but for Mountain Wolf as a brand that dares to live on the edge of motorsport, emotion, and excellence.
Jordan Pepper: “This place kick-started my career in 2017… when we crossed the finish line, nine years of emotion came pouring out.”
The legacy of this race will be remembered not only for the win – but for the strength of the team, the unity in pressure, and the belief that no grid penalty or battle is too big to overcome.
“Winning the Spa 24-hour race is simply an incredible moment. One that cannot be put into words. After the many setbacks in recent years and numerous lessons learnt, this victory is the result of our perseverance and exemplary teamwork. I am incredibly grateful that Gottfried has believed in me since 2015 and has allowed me to be part of this journey. I am more than proud of what we have achieved together. This was more than just a race, it was a statement. Thank you to my fellow drivers, the entire team and everyone who has supported us along the way.”
Mirko Bortolotti
“I still have no words for what happened at the weekend. Winning the Spa 24 Hours is one of the biggest milestones you can achieve in GT racing. It’s not known as one of the toughest GT3 races in the world for nothing. This victory gives me a very good feeling. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity. My thanks go to the entire team – from the management to the mechanics and, of course, to our partners, without whom such outings would not be possible.”
Luca Engstler
“I am very proud of the entire team. The disappointment from last year, when we were unable to convert pole position into a win, has awakened even more passion and fighting spirit in us. We continued to grow this year and were more ready than ever before. That is the main reason why we ended up at the top of the podium. I am proud to be part of this moment and the victory. Every single team member worked tirelessly towards this. I am very happy that we finally made it. What other team apart from GRT could have made Lamborghini’s first Spa victory possible?”
